Or is United States sovereignty at stake?

The advent of the United Nations was to create an outside force that hopefully could regulate the disharmony among the nations. There was built into the charter ways of easing the factors of war, such as economic disparity and social injustice. Also as part of the charter there is an article relating that the UN shall not interfere in the internal affairs of member States.

United States Sovereignty Lost

The United States sovereignty may be at stake since the UN has the authority to intervene in international conflicts.  If the United States continues to ignore the UN's advice and continue to not pay their dues the US may lose their ability to have a voice heard in the UN Security Council.  Thus giving up the right to be able to interact internationally.

United States Sovereignty Kept

The UN was not built to replace already working governments.  The UN would not be able to change the US government as it stands now.  There have been times when the US has disagreed with the UN's decisions and still had followed through with the US's original policy or plans.  The United States is a "great power" and thus is a major controlling factor in the world we live in today.  This said how could the UN take away our freedom.
