Welcome Bienvenue Mabuhay Bienvenido

This site on the United Nations will hopefully inform you of the beginnings of the UN. Currently the UN has been in operation for the last 59 years and 191 member states, with there international headquarters located in New York City. The building for the General Assembly was a gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1946.

Along with the goals of keeping peace and promoting human rights across the globe, the United Nations is also an organization to help in the building a global government.

What's It All About?
This site will feature the key events, figures, and influences of the beginnings the United Nations. There also will be discussion on the implications and other possible outcomes. Don't forget to check out the photo and quotes pages to get a visual understanding of the main events and figures that had an impact on the history of the UN. And if that isn't enough information please check out the links and reference page to get more involved information.
Here is the logo of the United Nations and some of the objectives written into their charter.
To keep peace throughout the world.
To develop friendly relations between nations.
To work together to help people live better lives, to eliminate poverty, disease and illiteracy in the world, to stop environmental destruction and to encourage respect for each other's rights and freedoms.
To be a center for helping nations achieve these aims.

The key events page shall be an overview of the important happenings during the formation of the United Nations. The key figures page will discuss the major players in bringing about the UN. And the key influences will look into what was shaping the organization of the UN. Hopefully this will shed some light onto an era that has passed.

The implications page will look into the issue of what the role of the United Nations has taken in respect to sovereignty of the United States. Then on the possible outcomes page there will be discussion of what might have happened had the UN not been formed when it did.

And here is the United Nations Flag.
The olive branches symbolize peace and the world view from the North Pole creates and image that no one country is superior over the others.
